Joubert’s athletic career began in Southeast Texas, where he was a high school football star for Hardin-Jefferson High School. He later took his talents to West Texas A&M, making his name as a standout receiver and return specialist for the Buffaloes from 1992 to 1995. Joubert led all of NCAA Division II in kickoff and punt returns during his freshman season. More than three decades later, he continues to hold West Texas A&M records for career kickoff returns with 91, kickoff return yards with 2,281 and kickoff return touchdowns with three. He also remains among the most productive receivers in program history. Joubert ranks fifth in career receptions with 179 and 11th in receiving yards with 1,952. The Beaumont native earned third-team All-American honors in 1994 and was named an honorable mention All-Lone Star Conference selection in 1995. Following his college career, Joubert continued playing professionally in the Canadian Football League. He spent time with the Calgary Stampeders and Saskatchewan Roughriders before eventually turning his attention to coaching. Joubert has since built a championship legacy at Kountze High School, where he has accumulated more than 600 career basketball victories. He guided the Lions to back-to-back state championships in 2004 and 2005, adding to Kountze’s rich basketball tradition. His impact at Kountze has extended well beyond basketball. In addition to serving as athletic director, Joubert has coached football, cross-country and tennis during his career with the district. Joubert is one of eight former West Texas A&M athletes selected for the Hall of Champions Class of 2026. The honor adds another milestone to an athletic career that began at Hardin-Jefferson and has stretched from the college and professional gridiron to championship basketball in Kountze.
