Tropical Storm Edouard forced the cancellation of Week 2 of the Robertson County News football contest after power and internet outages delayed the online posting of entry forms.

The delay left some contestants without enough time to submit their selections. Because everyone did not receive a fair submission period, publisher and contest manager Dennis Phillips determined that voiding the entire week was the most equitable decision.

No points, wins or losses from Week 2 will be recorded. Every contestant will begin Week 3 with the same point total earned during Week 1.

The storm disrupted electrical and internet service at Phillips Publishing’s location, where contests for the Robertson County News and The Silsbee Bee are calculated and managed. This marked the first time severe weather has caused a contest week to be canceled.

The Robertson County News apologizes for the disruption and appreciates players’ patience and understanding while service was restored.

Contestants are encouraged to complete their forms online to help ensure entries arrive promptly before the deadline.

 

Beginning with Week 3, each contest entry form is scheduled to be posted online no later than Monday, giving participants more time to review the games and submit their selections on time.
