West Hardin CCISD students demonstrated their agricultural mechanics skills during the Hardin County Ag Mech Build-Off, with two teams representing the district in the competition. The sophomore team of Chase Hughes, Carson Whitmire and Brennon Poland earned third place in a competitive field of 20 teams. West Hardin officials recognized both teams for the work, preparation and dedication they demonstrated throughout the event. The competition gave students an opportunity to apply agricultural mechanics skills while completing projects alongside teams from across the county. Agricultural mechanics programs provide students with hands-on experience involving construction, fabrication, tools, equipment and other technical skills associated with agriculture and related industries. Although only the sophomore team’s placement was announced, district officials praised all West Hardin students who participated in the build-off. West Hardin CCISD congratulated its Ag Mech students for representing the district and Oiler Nation with dedication, teamwork and professionalism during the county competition.
Oilers drill across state lines

D’Marques “Guillotine” Guillory is the Oilers best bet to take the top of the defense and cut the hopes of the Oilers 2A opponents down to size.
Dylan Busby The Silsbee Bee dylan@silsbee-bee.com SARATOGA — West Hardin crossed state lines and returned to Texas with another win after piling up more than 600 yards of offense in a 52-34 victory over Acadiana Christian Athletics. The road trip gave the Oilers more than just another opportunity to play football. West Hardin also made a stop at McNeese State University, where the team had the opportunity to walk through the Cowboys’ football stadium before continuing east to Lafayette. Once the Oilers reached the field, the offense went to work. West Hardin amassed 649 all-purpose yards, including 427 rushing yards on 45 carries. The Oilers scored five touchdowns on the ground while averaging nearly 9.5 yards per rushing attempt. Logan Prenzler led the ground attack, carrying the ball 14 times for 163 yards and two touchdowns. His production helped West Hardin control the game on the ground while opening opportunities through the air. Quarterback Owen Beachamp was nearly perfect when West Hardin elected to throw, completing 5 of 6 passes for 117 yards and a touchdown. D’Marques Guillory accounted for nearly all of that production. Guillory caught three passes for 111 yards and a touchdown, averaging 37 yards per reception. His biggest contributions were not limited to offense. Guillory also returned a kickoff for a touchdown, forced a fumble and intercepted a pass, putting together an impact performance in all three phases of the game. The Oilers’ defense created four turnovers. Guillory and Adam Al-Busaidy each forced a fumble, while Guillory and Junior Crase each recorded an interception. While Acadiana Christian managed to put 34 points on the board, West Hardin continually answered with explosive plays of its own. The Oilers’ combination of a dominant rushing attack, efficient passing game, special teams production and four forced turnovers proved too much to overcome. The 52-point performance also continued a strong stretch for West Hardin after the Oilers shut out Sabine Pass 59-0 in their previous game. West Hardin has now scored 111 points over its last two contests. The trip to Louisiana offered the Oilers a different experience, from walking through a college football stadium to facing an unfamiliar opponent across state lines. By the time West Hardin headed home, however, the result looked familiar: another explosive offensive performance and another win for the Oilers
